The NGO Founders Global Network (NFGN) has announced that Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, will receive the prestigious 2025 Iconic Award in Bayern, Germany.

The award recognizes Governor Zulum’s exceptional leadership, resilience, and contributions to governance, security, and humanitarian development.

In a statement titled A Visionary Leader for Sustainable Change, Ambassador Caius Eze, Global President of NFGN, congratulated Governor Zulum on this well-deserved global honor.

Amb. Eze praised Zulum’s unwavering commitment to transforming Borno State despite challenges posed by insurgency and underdevelopment.

He highlighted the governor’s bold security reforms, infrastructural development, and community empowerment initiatives, which have positioned him as a role model for effective governance in Nigeria and beyond.

“Governor Zulum’s leadership aligns strongly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in poverty reduction, education, and infrastructural advancement. His courage and steadfast commitment to tackling the security crisis in Borno have earned him both local and international recognition as a beacon of hope and progress,” Amb. Eze stated.

The NFGN President emphasized that the award is not just a personal honor for Governor Zulum but also a testament to his dedication to the well-being of the people of Borno. He noted that Zulum’s ability to lead with compassion and determination has inspired leaders worldwide, particularly in conflict-affected regions.

In addition to celebrating Zulum’s recognition, the NFGN has announced its upcoming inauguration event in July 2025, to be held in Abuja, Nigeria.

The event will bring together government officials, development experts, business leaders, and global stakeholders to discuss pressing issues related to governance, socio-economic growth, and humanitarian efforts.

A key highlight of the event will be a special panel discussion on the theme: “The Role of Nonprofits, NGOs, and Civil Society Groups in Fostering Collaboration with Governments, Stakeholders, and Citizens to Create Sustainable Projects, Generate Employment, and Curb Illicit Activities (Including Irregular Migration) for National Development.”

Governor Zulum’s anticipated participation is expected to provide valuable insights on navigating governance challenges and achieving sustainable development in fragile regions.

As Nigeria and the global community continue to tackle complex development issues, Governor Zulum’s recognition with the 2025 Iconic Award further solidifies his reputation as a visionary leader, committed to lasting positive change.
