The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has raised concerns over the circulation of sweets suspected to contain intoxicating substances, urging parents to closely monitor what their children consume.
Speaking to journalists in Kano, NDLEA’s Public Relations Officer, ASN Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, stated that the warning follows reports indicating that the candies—designed to resemble regular chocolate—may contain harmful substances that intoxicate consumers.
“These sweets are being sold to unsuspecting children, particularly those in school,” Maigatari disclosed.
He called on parents to be vigilant and to watch for any unusual changes in their children’s behavior.
“Parents should pay attention to sudden shifts in their children’s eating habits and sleeping patterns,” he advised.
The agency reassured the public of its commitment to identifying those responsible and preventing harmful substances from reaching vulnerable groups.
