Court Orders Restoration Of Suspended Edo LG Chairmen

A 28-year-old man, Monisola Adebayo, has been arraigned at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly publishing false news online.

Adebayo, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, is facing a three-count indictment involving conspiracy, defamation, and the publication of false information.

Prosecutor Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro stated that “the defendant committed the offences in 2024 at the Eleyele area of Ibadan.”

Adegbenro alleged that Adebayo conspired with others to disseminate false news that harmed the reputation of Mrs. Alice Oyinlola. The prosecution claimed that Adebayo’s posts contained derogatory comments that exposed Oyinlola to hatred, contempt, and ridicule.

“The accused’s actions violate sections 59, 375, and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000,” Adegbenro revealed.

Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted Adebayo bail set at N50,000 with two sureties of similar value. The case has been adjourned until April 21 for further hearing.
