The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a thorough investigation into the killing of its legal adviser in Oru West LGA, Chinedu Nwowu.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, Nwowu was assassinated in Mgbidi on Wednesday, January 22, by unidentified gunmen. In a statement, PDP Publicity Secretary Lancelot Obiaku strongly condemned the brutal murder, describing it as further evidence of the deteriorating security situation in the state.
Obiaku praised Nwowu as a dedicated party leader, a vibrant lawyer, and a respected mobilizer whose contributions to the PDP were invaluable. The party extended condolences to his family and prayed for his soul’s eternal rest.
PDP also urged security agencies to swiftly investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice. The party lamented the alarming insecurity in Imo State, citing a recent attack in Orsu LGA, where unknown gunmen killed at least 27 people in coordinated strikes across multiple communities.
The PDP criticized Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration, accusing it of failing to protect citizens despite receiving substantial security funds. The party demanded urgent government action to address the escalating violence in the state.
