Suspected kidnappers have killed the son of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor and abducted his wife in Mararaba, a community in Nasarawa State near Abuja.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday last week, when armed bandits stormed the home of the pastor, Austin Ifeji. Reports indicate that Ifeji was attacked with machetes but managed to escape, prompting the assailants to turn their attention to his family.
His son, who tried to defend his mother, was shot and repeatedly hacked with machetes in the presence of his siblings. The gunmen then abducted Ifeji’s wife and later demanded a ₦30 million ransom for her release.
A neighbor, speaking anonymously, confirmed the attack to Daily Trust but noted that details about the woman’s whereabouts remained unclear.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, stated that the command was unaware of the incident at the time of reporting.
