The All Progressives Congress acting chairman in Enugu State, Alphonsus Nwafor, on Tuesday, announced the expulsion of the suspended state chairman, Ugochukwu Agballa, and eight other self-acclaimed executive members for gross misconduct.
In a statement issued at the end of its executive meeting, Chief Charles-Solo Akor, the state publicity secretary, claimed that Agballa and the other expelled members had allegedly disobeyed court orders, undermining the party’s constitution, values, and principles.
The statement jointly signed by Alphonsus Nwafor and Akor stated, “The leadership of APC Enugu State Chapter does hereby officially expel Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Augustine Alumona, Jude Chinedu Aniogbo, Moses Emeka Eze, Sunday Ugwoke, Ugwu Christian Kanayo, Eze Chidiebere Johnson, Queen Charles, and Onyekachi T. Ezeagu from APC Enugu State Chapter.”
They were also accused of arresting and intimidating party members who identified with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his state visit to Enugu on January 4, 2025.
“This decision reflects our firm stance on accountability and ethical governance. The integrity of our Party is non-negotiable.
“They have been flagrantly disobeying the order of the High Court restraining them from arranging, organising, and holding any meetings as the leadership of APC State Executive Committee (SEC) Enugu State Chapter,” the party noted.
The statement also alleged that Agballa and his cohorts had been involved in various activities that undermined the party’s constitution, values, and principles, including the arrest and intimidation of party members who identified with President Tinubu.
“This decision reflects our firm stance on accountability and ethical governance. The integrity of our party is non-negotiable. We will not allow individuals who undermine our mission and principles to remain within our ranks,” it noted.
The APC Enugu State Chapter has assured its members and stakeholders of its commitment to repositioning the party and upholding its constitution and values.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with Chief Agballa were unsuccessful, as his number could not be reached.
At the time of filing this report, he had yet to respond to a text message seeking his comment.
