Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has claimed that the U.S. Department of Education no longer exists.
This statement follows reports that DOGE officials gained access to “administrator” email accounts within the Department of Education, sparking criticism from activists and politicians, including Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost.
Frost recently posted a video from inside the Department of Education, alleging that DOGE officials were blocking members of Congress from entering the premises. He also described their access to department information as illegal.
In response to Frost’s claims, Musk reportedly told MSNBC, “No such department exists in the federal government.”
Musk’s remarks come amid broader cost-cutting measures backed by former President Donald Trump, who tasked DOGE with identifying fraud and waste across federal agencies, including the Department of Education. Trump had previously supported Musk and his team in their efforts to uncover and recover billions of dollars allegedly lost to fraud and abuse within the agency
