Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN), the official manufacturer and marketer of Peugeot vehicles in Nigeria, has rolled out the GT variant of the Peugeot 3008, an award-winning SUV globally recognized for its design and performance.
Assembled at DPAN’s cutting-edge facility in Kaduna, the 3008 GT comes equipped with a high-performance 1.6-litre turbo engine, further expanding the company’s growing lineup. This milestone underscores Dangote’s dedication to strengthening local vehicle production and advancing Nigeria’s automotive industry.
Peugeot’s first African assembly of the 3008 model took place in Ghana in 2022 at the Silver Star Auto-owned Tema Assembly Plant. This development was part of a strategic partnership between Citroën, Peugeot, and Silver Star Auto, which began in 2019 to enhance Peugeot’s presence across the continent.
DPAN reintroduced the Peugeot brand in Nigeria with the local assembly of the Peugeot 301. Since then, its lineup has grown to include the Landtrek pickup, 3008, 5008, and the latest 508 models.
Dangote entered Nigeria’s automobile industry in 2016 by acquiring a majority stake in Peugeot Automobile through a partnership with the Kaduna State Government and the Bank of Industry. By 2017, he secured a license for a Peugeot assembly plant, and in 2022, DPAN commenced operations at the Greenfield Ultima Assembly Plant in Kaduna, which has a daily production capacity of 120 vehicles.
Beyond passenger vehicles, Dangote has expanded into commercial vehicle production through the Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Ltd (DSWAL) CKD plant in Lagos. This facility assembles heavy-duty, medium, and light trucks, with an annual capacity of 10,000 units and the creation of 3,000 jobs, further solidifying Dangote’s impact on Nigeria’s automotive sector.
