Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta following his arraignment on charges of assault and obstruction of government officials.
After surrendering to the police at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) on Wednesday, Portable was transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, before appearing in court on Thursday, having been declared wanted by the Ogun State Command.
Facing a five-count charge that includes conspiracy, assault, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause harm, Portable pleaded not guilty to all accusations.
His counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, requested bail, assuring the court that Portable “is now remorseful and has learnt his lessons.”
Magistrate O. L. Oke approved the bail set at N2 million, requiring one surety in a like sum, and adjourned the case until March 5 for trial. Additionally, nine of Portable’s aides were also arraigned on similar charges before the magistrate.
