Sen. Ademola Adeleke and Aragbiji of Iragbiji

A Court of Justice has issued a legal Order of Interim Injunction via a Motion Ex-parte which herewith prevents Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration from originating a new Gazette on the Aragbiji Chieftaincy.

The court gave the rulings upon reading an application and affidavit sworn to by Chief Fatai Salawu in a SUIT NO:HIR/3/2025 filed at the State High Court Registry, Iragbiji, Osun State, and other three claimants, who are Chiefs and Princes representing the four Ruling Houses of Ajibode, Ogunmolu, Osungbemi and Arowodoye, and after hearing the motion for the application by Maruf Adediran Esq, Counsel for the claimants, against the Governor of Osun State, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Osun State, and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, herein referred to as defendants.

The Court in its three-page rulings by Hon. Justice G.O. Lawal ordered as prayed that: “Order of this Honourable Court is hereby granted restraining the defendants either personally or through their agents from taking further step or steps in publishing and/or registering another Gazette based on the rejected Report of Hon. Justice Aderibigbe’s One-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry for the purpose of amending Aragbiji of Iragbiji Chieftaincy declaration, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.”

The report under reference, according to the Court, had already been rejected by Osun State Government via a letter with reference number CD.4/1/VOL/IX/837 of 25th April, 2013, and published in Osun State Gazette No.7, Vol.23 of 4th April, 2013.

The Court thereafter adjourned the Suit to Thursday, March 6th, 2025, for hearing of pending Applications.
