The people of Ido Ayegunle in Obokun local government has reacted to the ongoing unrest in Ido Ayegunle over the appointment of a new monarch for the town, they said the appointment is in order as they accused Owamiran of Esa-Oke for fueling the crisis.

According to the available information, one Mr Lawrence Adebisi who had been parading himself as Obanla of Ido Ayegunle was arrested yesterday night at his residence by the police.

Recall that the Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, lat week announced the approval of Prince Timileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the new Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle, the people of the town have been jubilating over the appointment.

In a telephone interview with the king elect, Oba Timileyin Oluyemi Ajayi, Aselebe lll, Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle said the story being peddled by osolo of Esa-Oke is nothing but lies from the pit of hell. He said, his forefathers are from Ido Ayegunle, not from Ilesa as claimed by Osolo.

“I want to say that since the announcement of my appointment as the new olojudo of Ido Ayegunle by His Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke, my people have been jubilating because this is what they’ve been longing for.

“I am the seventeenth Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle. My town has been in existence before Esa-Oke migrated from Esa-odo to settle at their present domain.

“Historically and traditionally, Ido Ayegunle has nothing to do with Esa-Oke. What’s happening today is just an attempt by the Owamiran and his people to forcefully take over the town, trying to disgrace the state government over my appointment.

“I want to urge my people to remain calm and allow the state government to do the needful by arresting those who are behind this act. Also, I want to plead with the state government to invite Owamiran to ask him questions in what is going on in my town.

Speaking with our correspondent, Ibironke Busuyi noted that indigenes of Ido Ayegunle has been facing series of attacks since the demise of the late Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle, noting that the claims by Owamiran and his people are not true.

“Olojudo of Ido Ayegunle is a part two Oba, he is not a Baale as said by the Osolo of Esa-Oke. Olojudo has been elevated from Baale to full-fledge king since 2014 by the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

“For Owamiran to come to Ido Ayegunle shortly after the demise of Late Oba Samuel Adekanmi Ajayi to install a Baale is nothing but an attempt to go against the gazette of the state government which was rejected by the residents of the community.

“He forcefully imposed one Mr Lawrence Adebisi as Obanla of Ido Ayegunle which doesn’t have any backup by virtue of the state gazette which elevated Olojudo to part two Oba by the government of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola in 2014. Meanwhile, Mr Lawrence Adebisi is from Efon Alaye in Ekiti State.

Also reacting, a resident of Ido Ayegunle, Segun Olasunkanmi said the community has not been witnessing peace since the demise of our late Oba Samuel Adekanmi Ajayi because Owamiran wants to forcefully take over the town to be under his control.

“We cannot continue to leave in fear, we call on the state government to please invite Owamiran of Esa-Oke to ask him why he installed a non-indigen as the Obanla of Ido Ayegunle which does not exisit in the Ido Ayegunle monarchical hierarchy. This, people have rejected up until the announcement by the state government last week. Is Owamiran more powerful than the state government? We plead with our loving Governor to act now.”
