The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Nigerians against allowing the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to power, describing it as a party in decline due to ongoing leadership crises.
APC’s National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, made the appeal in an interview with NEWS Bulletin, emphasizing that Nigeria was still suffering from the effects of PDP’s 16-year rule.
“That party is finished. Nigerians are still dealing with the rot left behind by its misrule. Are these the same people being considered to lead the country again? We at the APC are watching the drama unfold,” Ibrahim said.
He further criticized the PDP’s inability to manage itself, stating, “They can’t even govern their own party, let alone a nation. What’s happening now shows that divine intervention saved Nigerians by removing them from power. If you look deeper into their problems, you’ll see there’s more to come.”
Ibrahim also invited PDP members to learn governance from the APC’s Progressive Institute, established by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. “They will be taught politics without bitterness,” he added.
Responding to claims that APC was behind the PDP’s internal crises, Ibrahim dismissed the allegations.
“How can APC be responsible for what’s happening at Wadata Plaza? We are nowhere near them. Are any of the protestors APC members? Do any of them claim allegiance to our party? None. Their problems are entirely internal,” he said.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was noticeably absent as key leaders of PDP’s North East caucus met in Bauchi on Thursday to discuss reconciliation and strategies for the 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, and Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. Also present were members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, led by former National Secretary Olagunsoye Oyinlola, along with senators, House of Representatives members, and state assembly members from the region.
