The Ukrainian military has launched a wave of drone strikes into Russia, igniting a fire at an oil depot and triggering explosions at a plant producing military aircraft, according to Ukrainian reports.
On Tuesday, Ukraine claimed responsibility for targeting the western Russian region of Voronezh, near the border. The strike reportedly hit an oil depot near the town of Liski for the second time in less than a week.
“Fuel and lubricant tanks supplying Russian troops caught fire,” the Ukrainian military said.
Ukraine also claimed to have struck an aviation facility in the city of Smolensk, which produces combat aircraft, leading to “explosions.” However, the governor of Russia’s Smolensk region reported that falling debris from intercepted drones only caused “roof fires.”
Russia stated it had intercepted 55 Ukrainian drones overnight, most of which were downed over regions near the border. Meanwhile, Ukraine reported that Moscow launched 131 drones, decoys, and four missiles at Ukrainian territory.
