An unidentified man, believed to be around 45 years old, was discovered dead in a well in Babawa village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Kano State Fire Service received an emergency call at about 12:59 p.m. from ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division. A rescue team arrived at the scene at 1:25 p.m., according to a statement by the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
“Upon arrival, our team found a man, approximately 45 years old, lying unconscious in the well. Efforts were made to retrieve him, but it was confirmed that he had passed away due to prolonged exposure,” Abdullahi said.
Local community leaders and residents reported they did not recognize the man or know his origin.
The body was handed over to ASP Kabiru Lawan for further investigation.
