The Chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu is poised to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing his transformative policies and leadership.
In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, January 3, 2025, Zazzaga dismissed warnings from Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, the Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who predicted Tinubu’s defeat if he seeks reelection.
Dungurawa, addressing journalists in Kano on Thursday, January 2, 2025, criticized Tinubu’s policies as “anti-people” and suggested that Nigerians would vote him out, favoring NNPP leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso instead.
“Given these harsh policies against the masses, Tinubu should prepare for defeat unless he changes course. Nigerians, together, will ensure his removal,” Dungurawa stated.
In response, Zazzaga defended Tinubu’s administration, highlighting its “bold and necessary” decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the Naira. He argued that these reforms, though challenging initially, were essential for Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth.
“There is no magic that will make Tinubu lose in 2027. His policies, like subsidy removal and currency reform, are laying the foundation for sustainable growth. By 2027, Nigerians will appreciate his achievements and vote massively for his reelection,” Zazzaga said.
He emphasized the positive impacts of these reforms, such as a stronger Naira, increased oil production, and growing foreign reserves. Additionally, he noted improvements in the petroleum sector, including the elimination of fuel scarcity, and predicted further reductions in fuel costs and inflation.
Zazzaga also praised Tinubu’s proposed tax reforms as “pro-poor” and beneficial for small businesses. According to him, the President’s administration has made significant progress in security, infrastructure, and economic stabilization.
The APC chieftain added that the North-Central APC Forum has fully endorsed Tinubu for a second term after assessing his administration’s performance. He claimed that Tinubu’s government has given the region more opportunities and infrastructural development than any previous administration.
“Under Tinubu, insecurity in the North-Central has drastically reduced. Farmers can now return to their lands without fear, a testament to the President’s decisive action on security,” Zazzaga stated.
He concluded by reiterating the Forum’s commitment to mobilizing support for Tinubu’s reelection, just as it did in 2023.
