A Nigerian NGO, Concerned Nigerian Citizens, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resolve the ongoing conflict between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and Dangote Refinery over crude oil supply.
At a press conference in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Obinna Francis, expressed alarm over reports that NNPC Ltd plans to reduce crude supply to Dangote Refinery from 300,000 barrels per day. He emphasized the need for prioritizing local refineries to avoid monopolizing the oil sector and undermining local investors.
Francis highlighted the refinery’s role in making petroleum products more affordable without burdening taxpayers, unlike government-owned refineries. He warned that cutting crude supply to Dangote Refinery could worsen economic hardships caused by subsidy removal and rising fuel prices.
The NGO urged Tinubu to ensure harmonious cooperation between NNPC Ltd and Dangote Refinery to safeguard the energy sector and benefit Nigerians.
