President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has departed the nation’s capital, Abuja, for the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in the United Arab Emirates.

According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the president left Abuja at 6:30 PM on Saturday to attend the event, scheduled to take place from January 12 to 18. The trip follows an invitation from the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Onanuga noted that the summit aims to bring together global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and foster socioeconomic progress. Themed “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” the event will serve as a platform for policymakers, business leaders, and civil society to explore innovative strategies for transitioning to a sustainable economy and ushering in a new era of global prosperity.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, held annually for over 15 years, has become a significant forum for addressing global challenges through multi-stakeholder collaboration and promoting sustainable growth.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Thursday, January 16.
