…Report Presentation Set for January 31
The National Assembly has announced plans to prioritize the consideration of the N49.7 trillion 2025 budget, commencing today with budget defense sessions between relevant committees and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The Senate, resuming on January 14 from its Christmas and New Year recess, will suspend plenary for two weeks to allow intensive scrutiny of the budget. Stakeholders are invited to make inputs on Thursday, January 18.
Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Solomon Olamilekan Adeola revealed that reports from standing committees are due by January 18, with the final report expected to be presented on January 31.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Abubakar Kabir Bichi assured that budget defence sessions would be completed by January 17, enabling harmonization and submission of the final report by the month’s end.
Despite the tight schedule, lawmakers aim to ensure a thorough and efficient review process to deliver a budget focused on national development.
