The Nigeria Police Force has identified and detained an officer captured in a viral video involving the sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Razak Okoya, allegedly abusing the naira.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) early Friday.

Adejobi stated, “The policeman shown in the viral video shared by Chief Okoya’s sons, where the naira was being abused, has been identified and is now in custody for disciplinary action. His involvement has been condemned as unethical.”

The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining the integrity and values of the force.

However, the action sparked mixed reactions online, with many applauding the police for taking action while demanding accountability for Chief Okoya’s sons, who allegedly committed the offence.

One user, @ExquisiteDemola, wrote, “What about the Okoya sons who committed the offence? This country always targets the powerless.”

Another, @Chichet_, commented, “In this life, have money, or you will suffer. The actual offenders go free while the policeman faces consequences.”
