The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Spiker Volleyball Club and MOK Queens Volleyball Academy delivered remarkable performances at the Offa Descendants Union North America (ODUNA) Volleyball Championship, securing second and third positions, respectively.
The championship was organized to commemorate the 10th anniversary of ODUNA’s free medical mission in Offa, Kwara State.
The tournament, held from January 10 to 12, 2025, at the Zeems Sports Arena, Offa, featured eight competitive teams showcasing their talent and sportsmanship.
The MOK Spikers clinched the runners-up position, earning ₦30,000 and silver medals, while the MOK Queens secured third place, taking home ₦20,000 and bronze medals.
The grand finale drew a lively crowd, including ODUNA members, who cheered on the players and celebrated their impressive performances. The champions of the competition were awarded ₦60,000 and gold medals.
The championship was not only a celebration of athleticism but also served as a preparatory event for the 22nd Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), scheduled for April 2025.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, January 13, 2025, Coach Faremi Bukola Mary, who leads both the MOK Spikers and MOK Queens, expressed optimism about the future of volleyball in Offa.
“With the support of ODUNA and the commitment of our athletes, we are confident that volleyball in Offa will continue to thrive and reach new heights,” Coach Bukky stated.
