In a remarkable demonstration of its unwavering commitment to education and youth empowerment, the Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has once again sponsored the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for 200 students across Kwara State.

The initiative, which first commenced in 2024 with 130 students, has continued into 2025, further solidifying the foundation’s role in bridging educational gaps and alleviating financial burdens for underprivileged students.

The scholarship award ceremony, held on January 22, 2025, at Offa Grammar School (OGS) Auditorium, brought together stakeholders in education, traditional leaders, community leaders, school administrators, and beneficiaries, all gathered to celebrate this life-changing initiative.

During the event, Mr. Saheed Lawal, Executive Director of the MOK Foundation, emphasized that the selection of the 200 beneficiaries was rigorous and transparent.

He explained that the foundation worked closely with school administrators and local education authorities to identify students who were in dire need of financial assistance to register for their WAEC exams.

“Our goal is to ensure that no deserving student is left behind due to financial constraints. By covering their WAEC fees, we are empowering them to focus on their studies and excel academically. We urge them to justify this support by coming out in flying colors,” Mr. Lawal stated.

The Kwara State Treasurer of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPS), Mr. Oyawoye O.O., commended the MOK Foundation for its generosity and dedication to education.

“We are grateful for the unwavering support of the MOK Foundation in sponsoring the WAEC fees of these students. This initiative will ease the financial burden on their families and inspire hope for a brighter future,” he remarked.

Delivering a thought-provoking lecture on “Illuminating the Future”, Dr. Azeez Yisa, ACA, the Proprietor of Lens Polytechnic, Offa, advised parents to allow their children to pursue careers aligned with their interests and passions.

He recounted his personal journey, sharing valuable lessons with the students.

In a surprise announcement, Dr. Yisa awarded a full tertiary education scholarship at Lens Polytechnic to one of the WAEC scholarship beneficiaries, further reinforcing the event’s impact on educational empowerment.

In his address, Chief Lanre Shittu, Chairman of Offa Descendants Union (ODU, Home Branch), expressed gratitude to the MOK Foundation for its continued efforts in uplifting the community through education.

“Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode has consistently shown a deep commitment to education and social development. His contributions ensure that everyone counts. We pray for his continued success and urge students to be good ambassadors of their homes during and after their examinations,” Chief Shittu stated.
