The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 43-year-old man, Wale Ogunsanmi, who is accused of fatally stabbing Pastor Shina Olaribigbe on January 1, 2025.

Reports indicate that the victim succumbed to his injuries from the stabbing before he could be transported to Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Teaching Hospital in Osogbo.

In a statement released on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Yemisi Opalola confirmed Ogunsanmi’s arrest and indicated that an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Opalola detailed, “The incident occurred on January 1, 2025, at approximately 11:25 pm. He then stabbed the pastor with a knife, resulting in the fatal injury.”

Police officers from the Dugbe Division swiftly responded to the scene, apprehended the suspect, and recovered the weapon used in the attack. The deceased has been taken to the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy. The investigation continues as the command seeks to ensure justice is served.
