It’s an undeniable fact that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken the well-being of the people seriously. Recall that in the year 2024, their was cholera outbreak in the country and virtually all the states were affected, it was only Osun state that no single incident was recorded.

The administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is not paying lip service with the health of the people in the state.

It’s laughable reading a very poorly worded article written by a wounded member of the opposition party, APC in Osun state, Bashorun Adekanola Desmond Abiodun who wrongly claimed that “Osogbo in the throes of refuse heaps”. Perhaps, Adekanola has decided to put his eyes in the pocket, hence his refusal to see what the current administration is doing in the area of making Osun environment clean.

As a Media Aide to Governor Adeleke who is also covering activities of the Ministry of Environment, I can tell my friend to step up his games in criticizing our government. Everything Adekanola wrote is nothing but trash which should be discarded by well meaning people of Osun.

Let me quickly remind Adekanola that in the year 2024, Governor Adeleke employed Environmental Marshals through the Ministry of Environment who are saddled with the responsibility of making our environment clean. These Men and Women are working assiduously to make Osun clean.

Regarding the operation of Osun Waste Management Agency (OWMA), the agency is still very much in operation, it supervises collection of waste in the state and enforces laws that has to do with the indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Perhaps I should quickly remind Mr Adekanola that late last year, OWMA sealed up two major markets in Osogbo for not obeying environmental law and the affected were fined before they were reopened.

Also, let me refresh my friend’s memory that Osun Waste Management Agency is a creation of law and it’s fully in operation. Yes, I am aware that, being a member of depleted APC, he must discharge his duty by criticizing the government, but this must be done with a modicum of integrity not by spinning falsehood, it won’t fly.

As for the Private Sector Partnership (PSP) that he talked about, unless Adekanola wants to be economical with the truth, hence he would say PSP operators are not in town to collect waste in every nook and cranny of the state. The operation of PSP is not in anyway differs from that of NYBIO, only that they have giant equipments to function in the removal of waste in the road medians, and to think NYBIO has replaced OWMA or PSP shows a level of his understanding in governance.

Let me quickly enlighten my friend on the operation of our Skip loaders, all they do is to pack waste along the road, from Owode to Ota-efun; from November 27th Interchange bridge to Ring road to stadium, etc. PSP goes to the streets to collect waste with a token of N500 or N1,000 for one month from the residents.

It baffles me to read a report from Adekanola that Osun was ranked at the sixth dirtiest state in Nigeria. I wouldn’t know the agency or registered organization that did the research to come up with such report. If Osun state happens to be the sixth dirtiest state in the country and not a single incident of cholera was recorded, isn’t that against common sense?

I want to urge my friend to always seek for knowledge properly before coming to the public to criticize a government that is working both day and night to clean the mess their party, APC created while they were here.
