Subomi Okoya, son of billionaire Razaq Okoya, has issued an apology after a viral video showed him and his brother Wahab spraying naira notes while a police officer attached to them held stacks of the currency. The act violated Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) confirmed the arrest of the officer involved, condemning his actions as unethical and contrary to police values. Social media users, however, questioned why Okoya’s sons were not also detained, sparking widespread debate online.

Reacting to the criticism, Subomi took to X to express regret, stating his actions were “pure and naive” and that he was unaware of the legal implications. He asked for forgiveness and pledged to avoid such behavior in the future.
