…..Calls for Action on Offa Bypass Compensation
Engr. Abdulfatai Kolawole Yusuf, the immediate past President of Offa Engineers and Pioneer Chapter Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Offa Branch, has expressed gratitude to Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq-led Kwara State government for its ongoing road infrastructure projects in Offa.
He made these remarks during the Offa Engineers’ Annual General Meeting (AGM) and his handing-over ceremony held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the ODU Small Hall, Offa.
In his address, Engr. Yusuf commended the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its commitment to infrastructure development, citing several major road projects currently underway.
These include the construction of the Eiyenkorin-Offa-Osun State Boundary Road, General Hospital Owode Road (Taiwo Road Section 1), Popo Road, and the General Hospital-Osunte-Idi Ogun Junction Road (Taiwo Road Section 2).
“Permit me to thank the state government for all the ongoing road infrastructure being put in place in our community. It is no doubt that the present Kwara State government has good intentions for us,” he stated. “From an engineering point of view, this is marvelous.”
Engr. Yusuf also highlighted the community’s collaborative approach in seeking amendments to the road construction designs, which were graciously approved by Governor AbdulRazaq.
However, he urged the state government to expedite the constitution and mobilization of an assessment committee for compensating affected parties along the proposed Offa Bypass Road.
He emphasized that addressing compensation issues would remove the bottlenecks delaying the project’s progress.
“This will help in decongesting the Olofa Way during festivities We are waiting for your action, sir,” Engr. Yusuf inter alia.
