Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has suggested that Nigerians’ trust in politicians now hinges on their physical appearance, particularly their physique.
Speaking during an episode of Curiosity Made Me Ask, a show hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Sowore humorously claimed that Nigerians no longer trust politicians with flat tummies, referencing the poor performance of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I had a flat tummy until 2018,” Sowore said. “But I realized people with flat tummies are no longer trusted in Nigeria. Look at the immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari. You saw what he did to Nigerians with his flat tummy—it became a weapon against them. So, I decided to grow my tummy, and it’s getting there.”
He added that Nigerians might avoid voting for candidates with flat tummies in the future. “They voted for Buhari because they didn’t want the man in Otta with the big tummy, and Buhari used his flat tummy to whip them,” he joked.
