The Ekiti State Amotekun Corp has apprehended 25-year-old Ojo Adewunmi for attempting to rape a 19-year-old girl on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Ilawe-Ekiti.
According to Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, the head of communications for the corps, the suspect forcibly locked the victim inside in an effort to carry out the assault.
Fortunately, his actions were interrupted when Amotekun operatives responded to the victim’s calls for help. The victim described her harrowing experience, relaying how helpless she felt until the officers arrived to rescue her.
Adewunmi has been transferred to the Ilawe-Ekiti Police Division for further investigation and potential prosecution.
