The former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has stated that he has documents to substantiate the expenditures made during his tenure prior to his removal.
Obasa challenged anyone with contrary evidence to present their documents for comparison.
It should be recalled that Obasa was recently impeached by lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly. His impeachment occurred while he was in the United States, following allegations of financial misappropriation and fraudulent practices.
Upon his return to Nigeria yesterday, Obasa insisted that he remains the Speaker until the lawmakers follow due process to impeach him.
Speaking to his supporters, Obasa expressed gratitude to the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and President Bola Tinubu.
In his statement, Obasa said:
“Those who are making allegations against me should provide evidence. If they claim I haven’t carried members along, that’s a secondary issue, and I will address it at my own time when all matters have been resolved.
“We have documents to back the expenditures incurred in the Lagos State House of Assembly. If anyone has evidence to the contrary, they should present their documents for comparison.
“To our governor, I extend my gratitude and commend him for his efforts. To Mr. President and the GAC, they are our leaders, and we deeply appreciate them.”
