The Kauru Local Government Community Development Association in Kaduna State has expressed grave concern over the escalating security crisis in the region.
In a statement issued by the association’s chairman, Abel Habila Adamu, the group decried the increasing violence and attacks, which have led to widespread loss of lives, displacement of residents, and destruction of property.
Adamu noted, “The recent surge in violence has had devastating effects on our community. The situation has deteriorated to a level where immediate intervention from security agencies and the global community is critical.”
Highlighting the alarming frequency of abductions, he recounted a recent incident in Kiffin Chawai, where a woman was killed by her kidnappers despite paying the ransom they demanded.
The situation is particularly dire in the Kumana and Kauru chiefdoms, where thousands have been displaced and others killed in areas such as Dokan Karji, Bandi, Rumaya, Kwassam, Kaibi, Kusheka, Geshere, and Binawa.
Adamu called on the government to take swift action to protect lives and property. He specifically urged the establishment of two military bases—one in Kauru and another in Kumana chiefdoms—to ensure a permanent security presence in the region.
“These military bases will deter further attacks and restore a sense of safety for the local population, who are currently living in constant fear,” he said.
While acknowledging the government’s efforts, including the establishment of a military base in Chawai chiefdom, Adamu appealed for more security personnel to address lingering attacks in parts of the region.
He emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive measures to curb the activities of bandits and bring relief to affected communities.
