The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has paid over N1.54 billion in terminal benefits to 609 retirees between August and December 2024.

According to the Board’s Executive Secretary, Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, the payments were categorized as follows:

1. Mandatory Retirement: N1.17 billion was paid to 465 retirees who left service due to reaching the mandatory retirement age or completing 35 years of service.

2. Death in Service: N315 million was disbursed to the families of 103 employees who died while in active service.

3. Post-Retirement Deaths: N54 million was paid to the families of 39 retirees who passed away before completing five years post-retirement.

4. Short-Term Contributors: Two beneficiaries, who contributed for less than five years, received N749,010, including a 15% interest.

Aminu urged retirees to avoid fraudsters and emphasized that the Board’s services are free of charge. He also commended Governor Umar A. Namadi for supporting retirees, noting that the payments would enhance their welfare and service delivery.
