……IFMA Provides Free Surgeries, Medications, Eye Care
…..To Host Third Optical Treatment in February
The Islamic Foundation for Medical Aid (IFMA), founded by Dr. Awa Ibraheem held its monthly free healthcare outreach on Sunday, January 26, 2025, continuing a seven-year-long initiative that has provided medical services to thousands of people across Kwara and Osun States.
IFMA has consistently attracted hundreds of beneficiaries each month, offering medical consultations, pharmacy services, and optical treatments.
Patients travel from as far as Ilorin, Ajase-Ipo, Oyun, and Ifelodun local government areas in Kwara State, as well as Ila-Odo, Ikirun, and Osogbo in Osun State, to access these essential healthcare services.
Each month, experienced doctors and nurses volunteer to assist at the outreach, with IFMA covering costs for extreme cases requiring surgeries.
The initiative expanded its services in July 2024 to include optical treatments, benefiting 400 patients in its first session. Of these, 300 patients received free eyeglasses, 250 patients were provided with free medication, and 50 patients underwent cataract, glaucoma, and pterygium surgeries, fully funded by the foundation.
This effort was repeated in September 2024, with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) partnering with IFMA by providing expert staff, while the foundation supplied logistics.
The third edition of the optical treatment programme is scheduled for February 2025.
