Ghanaian actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has announced the passing of his father, John Anato-Dumelo Snr., at the age of 75.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Dumelo shared the heartbreaking news, reflecting on their final moments together. He expressed gratitude for his father’s unwavering support and guidance, paying an emotional tribute to the bond they shared and the profound impact his father had on his life.
In his post, Dumelo recounted their last conversation, which touched on politics, business, farming, and advice for his upcoming swearing-in as a member of parliament.
“At age 75, you lived your life well,” Dumelo wrote. “Yesterday, you called me several times to come see you. We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business—and, of course, we gossiped. We talked about my swearing-in in three days’ time, and you specifically told me to serve diligently in government.”
He continued, “Ten minutes after I left your house, I was called back and told you were unresponsive. We rushed you to the hospital, but you were gone. Thank you for being my father, my best friend, my number one cheerleader, and for everything you did for me. Say hi to Mum for us all. We will miss you. Rest in perfect peace, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.”
