A driver of a Lagos Intra-City bus lost his life in a tragic early morning accident on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the state Secretariat inward Otedola Bridge.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the accident occurred due to brake failure caused by excessive speeding, leading to a collision between a minibus and a long truck. The impact left the driver trapped in the wreckage, while other passengers were rescued unscathed.
Despite coordinated rescue efforts by LASTMA, LASAMBUS, and FRSC, the driver was recovered lifeless. LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki warned against reckless driving and emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.
He expressed condolences to the victim’s family and reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to road safety.
