The meeting focused on discussing progress and future initiatives for the community’s development, with twenty-four (24) Comrades from the Offa Community nationwide in attendance.
INTRODUCTION
The Offa Comrade Community is a dynamic organization comprising former student leaders, activists, and comrades from diverse educational institutions across the nation, all connected by their shared roots in Offa Local Government, Kwara State. Our members bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and unwavering dedication to community development. Leveraging our successful backgrounds as student leaders and activists, we are committed to driving positive changes that uplift our society.

<span;>1. Collaboration with the College of Health Technology, Offa, to support the development of initiatives that can enhance our community’s growth. This includes establishing primary and secondary schools for staff, a pure water factory, a bakery for special and healthy foods, and a standard clinic to further promote the economic growth of our community.
<span;>2. Education Development Program to enhance primary education in the local government.
<span;>3. MUU Road Interlocking Project (involving a request to BUA Cement).
<span;>4. Programs addressing moral issues in Offa and its environs.
<span;>5. Advisory role for the Offa Student Union (OSU) National Headquarters.
<span;>6. Establishment of an Entrepreneurship-focused Trust Fund for youth venturing into business and investments.
<span;>7. Addressing stakeholder feedback on recent initiatives and community development by the Offa Comrade Community.
<span;>8. Updated leadership structure of the Offa Comrade Community by filling vacancies in the incumbent positions and nominating new executives promptly.
<span;> *Decisions Made* :
<span;>1. Adjusted the activities for the 3-day Education Development Program to better cater to the 180-target audience (10 students from each of the 18 Public Secondary Schools in Offa Local Government).
<span;>2. Decided to organize an Annual Entrepreneurship, Tech, and Leadership Summit for prospective leaders in Offa Local Government.
<span;>3. The Offa Comrade Community (OCC) allocated 100,000 Naira as a start-up grant to the newly elected executive of the Offa Student Union (OSU) National for the year 2025.
<span;>4. Encouraged high-performing students in Offa Local Government, especially those in public schools, through scholarships, funding for terminal exams (WAEC, NECO, JAMB), certificates, and other incentives to acknowledge excellence.
<span;>5. Received four (4) JAMB registration pledges under the scholarship project of the Offa Comrade Community to motivate students in Offa Local Government.
<span;>6. Agreed on policing measures to combat drug usage and sales in Offa by collaborating with law enforcement agencies (NDLEA, DSS), stakeholders, and community members.
<span;>7. Approved a budget of 15 million Naira for the Education Development Program, named the 3-day Asiwaju Tajudeen Educational Development Program in honor of Alhaji Asiwa Tajudeen Oyeyemi, the Asiwaju of Offa, with funds to be raised through stakeholder engagement.
<span;>8. Committed to implementing feedback mechanisms for the ongoing 2025 Offa Comrade Community projects.
<span;>9. A subcommittee will be selected to further strategize on the programs of the Offa Comrade Community.

Conclusively, the meeting was resolved on the dissolution of the current executive team, reinstating the Coordinator, the General Secretary, the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Yinusa Tafeek Adekunle as the Financial Secretary, and nominating four others to be part of the executive council of the Offa Comrade Community. The Offa Comrade Community expresses gratitude to our leader, Alhaji Lateef Ajeigbe, the Area Aboba Jiroro of Offa land, for his continuous support for community development and for providing facilities for our 2024 General Meeting.
A follow-up meeting is scheduled for January 11, 2025, to review progress on action items and discuss new initiatives.
