All is set to commemorate the centenary celebration of Chief Josiah Sunday Olawoyin, the Chief Asiwaju of Offaland, a revered statesman, visionary leader, and advocate for progress, with a grand event themed “A Century of Legacy and Leadership: Honouring 100 Years of Vision and Courage.”
The event is scheduled to take place on February 5, 2025, at ODU Hall, Offa, beginning at 10:00 AM.
The celebration will feature the official launch of the J.S. Olawoyin Foundation and a compendium dedicated to his life, achievements, and enduring contributions to society.
As part of the event, a public lecture titled “Yoruba Nationality Consciousness and Controversy” will be delivered by Balogun Akin Oshuntokun, former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The lecture will be reviewed by Lasisi Olagunju, an esteemed editor and columnist with the Nigerian Tribune.
The event will have in attendance distinguished guests and dignitaries, including Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, as the Guest of Honour.
Other notable personalities expected include Senator Lola Ashiru, Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Senate Assembly and Senator Representing Kwara South Senatorial District, and Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The National President of the Offa Descendants Union (ODU), Alhaji Abdulazeez Muyideen Olaniyi Salako, will serve as the host, while Chief Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi, the Asiwaju of Offa, will be the co-host.
The foreword for the event will be presented by Solagbade Olufemi Lanlehin.
