Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has sworn in 2,300 Batch ‘C’ Stream II members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), comprising 1,200 females and 1,100 males, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area.
Speaking at the ceremony on Friday, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Ndanusa Usman, encouraged the corps members to embrace discipline and actively participate in camp activities designed to enhance their skills and personal development.
Welcoming the corps members to Kwara, he urged them to engage in physical training, paramilitary drills, and leadership sessions to make their service year rewarding. He assured them of the state government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment throughout their stay.
In a statement issued by Oluwafemi Adeoye, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development, the governor advised the corps members to be exemplary ambassadors of their families by upholding values such as humility and dedication to humanity, as reflected in the NYSC motto.
“I assure you that the government will continue to create an enabling environment for your welfare and security during your service year in Kwara State,” AbdulRazaq stated.
Justice Abiodun Adebara, Chief Judge of Kwara State, represented by Justice Amina Ishiaq, administered the NYSC Oath of Allegiance to the corps members.
Also present at the event were top officials, including the Chairman of the Kwara State NYSC Governing Board, Ndanusa Usman, who was represented by Mrs. Adenike Ajide, Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply in the Ministry. Ajide commended the governor for his support of the NYSC and urged the corps members to offer selfless service and contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities.
State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Onifade Joshua, thanked the governor for his consistent support and praised the corps members for their enthusiasm. He highlighted planned activities aimed at entertaining and educating them during the orientation period and reminded them to adhere strictly to camp rules.
Dignitaries at the event included representatives from the NYSC Directorate, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, among others.
