The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai of incompetence and failure to manage their own affairs.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Felix Morka, the APC dismissed their recent comments as desperate attempts to remain politically relevant ahead of the 2027 elections.
Morka criticized Atiku for his remarks about judicial interference in Nigeria’s electoral system, calling him the country’s “most prolific electoral litigator.” He argued that Atiku’s frequent court battles undermine his credibility in criticizing the judiciary’s role in elections.
“It is ironic that Atiku, who has relied on the courts for his political ambitions, now claims judicial involvement threatens democracy. His complaints ring hollow,” Morka said.
He further stated that Nigeria’s democracy is stronger than Atiku’s personal ambitions, urging him to respect the electoral process and focus on constructive solutions rather than “petty politicking and alarmist rhetoric.”
Addressing opposition concerns, Morka dismissed claims by Atiku, Obi, and El-Rufai that the APC was undermining opposition parties. He described their accusations as baseless excuses for their failure to manage their own political platforms.
“The idea that our party is responsible for the internal struggles of the opposition is laughable. If they cannot govern their own parties, how do they expect Nigerians to trust them with the country?” he said.
Morka urged Nigerians to remain focused and not be swayed by politicians who, he claimed, were only seeking to maintain their relevance ahead of the next elections.
