Oba Joel CPS Oyatoye Olufayo II, aged 40, was crowned the new Oloro of Oro Kingdom on Monday, marking the return of his lineage to the throne after a 234-year hiatus.
The coronation took place in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State with traditional rites led by the Oloro-in-Council.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by his adviser Hon. Femi Agbaje Whyte, urged the new monarch to lead with integrity and foster unity in the community. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions and community development.
The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo and Chairman of Irepodun Traditional Council, Oba Ismail Alebiosu, commended the smooth selection process and encouraged unity within the kingdom.
Other dignitaries, including cultural and academic leaders, highlighted the significance of the event in preserving heritage and fostering progress in the Oro Kingdom, known for its industrious spirit.
