At least five individuals were reportedly abducted by gunmen on Saturday near Obbo-Ayegunle in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The victims were traveling back to their base in Odo-Owa after attending a wedding ceremony in Ope, a town in neighboring Kogi State when the incident occurred around 4 p.m.

Among those kidnapped are Oloye Oyewole Abolarin, the head of hunters in Odo-Owa, his wife Funmilayo Abolarin, Tunde Oladipo and his wife, and a woman identified as Bose, all from the Agbele Igbede compound in Odo-Owa.

The kidnappers have contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.

Community members and the victims’ families have begun raising funds to meet the kidnappers’ demands while appealing to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and security agencies for urgent assistance.

An unconfirmed report suggests that another kidnapping incident occurred on Monday along the Omu-Aran highway.

Attempts to contact DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, were unsuccessful as she did not respond to calls or a text message at the time this report was filed.
