Heavily armed police officers and State Security Service (SSS) operatives have taken control of the Kano Emir’s Palace at Kofar Kudu, restricting entry and exit from the premises.

The heightened security follows Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s plans to install Munir Sanusi, the newly appointed Wamban Kano and District Head of Bichi. The Emir was reportedly scheduled to accompany Munir Sanusi to his official posting in Bichi.

Sources confirm that the Bichi Emir’s Palace is also under tight security, with armed police officers stationed around the area.

This development comes two weeks after the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, reaffirmed during a visit to Bichi that the Bichi Emirate Council remains valid, with Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero as its leader.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf recently invalidated the five emirs created under the Kano Emirate Council Law, removing them from their chiefdoms. However, days later, his administration appointed three second-class emirs, excluding Bichi, reducing it to a district head’s domain.
