Vice President Kashim Shettima has recently completed the lesser hajj (Umrah) at the revered Holy Mosque of Makkah (Masjid al-Haram) in Saudi Arabia, where he offered heartfelt prayers for Nigeria’s peace and stability.
During his visit, Shettima emphasized the importance of divine guidance for both the nation’s leaders and its citizens. In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President expressed: “Our prayer is for peace to prevail in our land. May Allah grant our nation peace and social harmony.”
He also called for wisdom and compassion among Nigeria’s leaders, stating, “May Allah bestow upon our leaders—from the President to our local councillors—the wisdom, patience, and generosity exemplified by Muhammad Rasulullah in their governance.”
Furthering his prayers, the Vice President pleaded for the wisdom to govern justly and effectively. “Let there be peace, tranquility, and prosperity in our nation. This is our prayer, and Insha’ Allah, we trust that our supplications will be granted,” he said.
In addition, Shettima’s planned meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah has been postponed. He is set to return to Nigeria on Friday after flying to Saudi Arabia from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of a $315 million oil production and storage facility owned by Oriental Energy Limited (OERL).
