The Zone 9 Police Command Headquarters in Umuahia has confirmed the appointment of AIG Suleiman Amuda Yusuf as the new Assistant Inspector General of Police for the zone. He succeeds AIG Echeng Eworo Echeng, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force.
In a press release issued by DSP Iheanetu Bruno Chukwudera, the Police Public Relations Officer for Zone 9, it was disclosed that AIG Yusuf has officially assumed duty. The Zone 9 Command oversees police operations in Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia states.
The statement praised the outgoing AIG Echeng for his dedication, exceptional service, and significant contributions to the zone’s security efforts.
AIG Yusuf, a native of Lokoja, Kogi State, joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has undergone extensive professional and leadership training.
Described as a seasoned and versatile officer, AIG Yusuf is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the Zone 9 Command. The police urged residents of Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia states to support and cooperate with the new AIG in fostering peace and security across the region.
