In a remarkable display of generosity and commitment to the welfare of his people, Rep. Olusoji Abidemi Adetunji, the federal lawmaker representing Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency, successfully distributed bags of rice to hundreds of constituents today, Monday, December 30, 2024.
The event, held at his Ikirun residence, was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from beneficiaries across the three local government areas.
The distribution was aimed at alleviating the economic challenges affecting Nigerians, particularly during the festive season. Artisans, traditional rulers, student unions, civil servants, retirees, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the League of Imams, security agencies, persons living with disabilities, market unions, the Fulani, Igbo, and Hausa communities, commercial motorcyclists, road transport unions, Amotekun corps, support groups, and others benefited from the initiative.
Speaking at the event, Rep. Adetunji emphasized the importance of caring for the less privileged during these trying times.
“This distribution is not only about celebrating the festive season but also about complementing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s efforts in addressing the economic challenges faced by our people,” he said.
The distribution drew commendations from various quarters, with community leaders and stakeholders praising the lawmaker’s commitment to his constituency.
Ojo Samson, Chairman of Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in Boripe Local Government, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of his members. “Rep. Adetunji has shown that he genuinely cares for us. This gesture means so much to the disabled community, and we are deeply grateful for his support,” Samson said.
Comrade Olayiwola Mutairu Omotayo, Coordinator of the Adeleke General Summit, also lauded the initiative, describing it as a reflection of true leadership. “This is the kind of representation we need—one that prioritizes the welfare of the people. Rep. Adetunji has once again demonstrated that he is a man of the people,” he remarked.
Similarly, Alhaji Adetona Nureni, Ward 8 Chairman in Ada, Boripe Local Government, thanked the lawmaker for extending his generosity to grassroots communities. “The inclusion of people from all walks of life in this initiative shows the lawmaker’s understanding of the needs of his constituency. We appreciate his efforts immensely,” Nureni stated.
Comrade Kayode from Iragbiji highlighted the importance of the food distribution in cushioning the effects of the current economic realities. “At a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet, this gesture by Rep. Adetunji is a blessing. He has brought smiles to many faces today, and we commend him for his thoughtfulness,” he said.
