From a post shared by a friend on social media, we can vividly compared the strategy of the Deputy Senate Leader representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru with a great Pan-Africanist and first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
*WHAT BEMUSED KWAME NKRMAH ?*
🌍✨ 🇬🇠When Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was overthrown, the streets of Accra erupted in jubilation. Yet, in that moment of triumph for some, Nkrumah’s heart sank, prompting him to ask, “Why are my people jubilating? I expect them to be sad.”
His close friend, recalling their journey to Hanoi with Ho Chi Minh, offered a stark reality: “Mr. President, your people were expecting milk, and you were building factories. Emmanuel Kotoka will provide them milk.” Nkrumah’s response was poignant: “Is that all they wanted? I thought we had a future together. If I knew, I would have planted milk taps in their homes.”
This exchange highlights the often painful disconnect between visionary leadership and the immediate needs of the populace usually orchestrated by political jobbers. Nkrumah dreamed of a prosperous Ghana, investing in infrastructure and industry, but many citizens yearned for basic necessities. It begs the question: Do leaders sometimes get lost in their grand visions while the people seek survival?

Just like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who happened to be a great Pan-Africanist with great investment in socioeconomic and infrastructural development of Ghana, Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru is a Pan-KwaraSouth with unblemished passion for socioeconomic development of the Senatorial District who continually not just advocating for development through various facilitation of programs and projects but passionately working for the unity of purpose among the good people of Kwara South Senatorial District as the only panacea to optimize both natural and Human Resources of the senatorial district.
In a world where the gap between a visionary leader and the governed is usually misconceived by political jobbers, the best of action of a visionary leader is to remain focus until the vision becomes more obvious for the betterment of all and sundry. Kwame Nkrumah’s experience serves as a reminder of how tough it is to navigate road for the unborn generation.
Kwara South is in a safe hands…. amangla awetu🙏
