I have been following the controversy trailing the arrest in Lagos and subsequent arraignment of Dele Farotimi in a magistrate court in AdoEkiti for alleged criminal defamation of the persona of Chief Afe Babalola SAN in a published book.
I have read reactions and counter reactions trailing the incident with many maintaining very strong positions on both sides.
My approach will be different. My perspective is to call for a truce. I plead for an amicable resolution of this matter, and very quickly too by concerned and eminent members of the society concerned about the cohesiveness and unity of Nigeria.
No matter the seriousness of the matter at hand, l believe there is a window of opportunity to find a middle ground of resolving the impasse without endangering reputations and bruising the respective ego of the elements involved in the controversy.
I believe this is the time to thread the path of peace.
I urge elements on both sides to sheath their swords and work for peace.
I so urge.
