The management of the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) in Ilorin is contemplating a mass burial for unclaimed bodies as its morgue has reached full capacity.
Kamaldeen Aliagan, head of the hospital’s Corporate Affairs Unit, confirmed that the morgue is currently overrun with unclaimed remains.
He stated that the hospital management has issued notices urging families to come forward and claim the bodies of their deceased relatives.
“The management of Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) wishes to inform the public that our mortuary is filled beyond its capacity with unclaimed bodies. We strongly urge everyone to retrieve the remains of their loved ones within the next two weeks. After that period, we may need to consider options for decongestion, including mass burial,” Aliagan announced.
