The Jigawa State House of Assembly has approved the 2025 Appropriation Bill totaling N698.3 billion.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi had earlier presented the budget proposal, dubbed the “Budget of Innovation & Transformation for Greater Jigawa,” to the Assembly. The approved budget represents an 82% increase compared to the 2023 estimate of N383.55 billion.
Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Hamza Ibrahim, confirmed that the proposed amount remained unchanged following deliberations. He noted that the budget includes over 62 recommendations, which were unanimously adopted by lawmakers after the third reading.
The breakdown of the budget comprises:
Personnel costs: N90.73 billion
Other recurrent expenditures: N70.17 billion
Capital development programs: N537.40 billion
Speaker Haruna Aliyu emphasized that once the governor assents to the bill, it will facilitate the execution of development-oriented projects aimed at enhancing the well-being of Jigawa residents.
