A Chief Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, has ordered the detention of Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School in Bashorun Ibadan, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM, and Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at the Agodi Correctional Center.
This ruling was made on Tuesday by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi.
Sources indicate that the three individuals were arrested in connection with a recent stampede that took place at the school.
Our reporter noted that the defendants were brought to court on Tuesday under heavy police security, while the courthouse was filled with family members and supporters of the accused.
They face four charges, with the prosecution asserting that their actions contravened Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
Chief Magistrate Ogunkanmi has ordered their detention at Agodi Correctional Center until further direction is provided by the state prosecutor.
