The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has declared Edward Ejembi Omaga, a lawyer and civil rights activist, wanted over allegations of criminal defamation.
Omaga had earlier published claims of alleged infractions within Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Limited, calling for an investigation into the activities of Segun Agbaje, the CEO of Guaranty Trust Holding Company PLC.
In response, the police issued an invitation letter dated October 10, summoning Omaga for questioning. The letter stated that he was under investigation for criminal defamation, cyberbullying, economic sabotage, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
A follow-up letter dated October 25 reiterated the police’s request, noting that Omaga’s failure to respond was delaying the investigation. The letter reminded him to appear for an interview with the Commissioner of Police at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Area 10, Garki, Abuja, scheduled for October 29.
In a subsequent post on the NPF’s official Facebook page, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged anyone with information on Omaga’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
