Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has officially commissioned four factories built by the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC). The facilities are expected to boost the state’s economy, generate employment, and reduce dependency on imports.
The newly commissioned factories include:
BIPC Polythene and Nylon Printing Factory
BIPC Water Expansion Factory, both situated near BIPC’s headquarters
BIPC Nails Ltd
BIPC Bread Expansion Factory, located along Makurdi-Naka Road
The Polythene and Nylon Printing Factory is set to minimize costs associated with sourcing packaging materials from Lagos, while BIPC Nails Ltd aims to cater to the state’s industrial needs. The expansion of the Bread and Water factories is designed to meet rising demand, enhance availability, and boost Benue’s internally generated revenue (IGR).
Represented by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Hon. Alumo Orpin, Governor Alia highlighted the economic benefits of the projects.
“These factories will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, increase our IGR, and position Benue as a hub of industrial growth in Nigeria,” he said. “This is the beginning of a new chapter in our journey toward an economic revolution.”
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment through deliberate policies, improved infrastructure, and governance transparency.
Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, Managing Director of BIPC, noted that the factories are projected to create over 700 jobs, comprising 300 direct and 400 indirect opportunities.
“These projects are designed to stimulate economic growth, reduce unemployment, and enhance the quality of life for Benue residents,” he stated.
Asemakaha also announced plans to launch BIPC Premium Lager Beer, the first product of the Food Basket Brewery, a subsidiary of BIPC, on December 22, 2024.
The wife of the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mrs. Cynthia Dajo, commended the MD for his achievements and called for continued support for BIPC. Meanwhile, BIPC’s Company Secretary, Barr. Josephat Ioryoosu, assured that with the Governor’s backing, the company would remain committed to fulfilling its mandate.
The projects mark a significant milestone in Benue State’s industrialization drive, signaling a brighter economic future for the region.
